MOTORCYCLE PERMIT

Motorcycle permit allows you to park at following locations:

  1. Cement pad located between the Nuclear Research Building and John Hodgins Engineering Building (No Card needed)
  2. Cement pad located inside Lot B. (Card Needed)

With the card permit you can park in both locations while without card you can park only on the cement pad located between NRB and JHE. Please note that your motorcycle must be registered with parking services to avoid getting a ticket.

If you already have parking permit for your vehicle, then motorcycle permits (either #1 or #2 above) are available at no additional cost to you. If you don’t have a parking permit for your vehicle then the motorcycle permit will cost $19.00 per month.

PAYROLL DEDUCTION ELIGIBILITY

Full-time and faculty members may qualify to have their parking rates deducted monthly from payroll. To apply for payroll deductions for your permit, please email parking@mcmaster.ca.

AUTHORIZED LEAVES

Staff and faculty members who are starting a sessional, seasonal, research, maternity, paternal or other University recognized leave of absence must advise parking for deactivation of their transponder and suspension of their parking deductions in writing to parking@mcmaster.ca. Failure to do so will result in arrears being deducted for your parking from your first pay on your return to work.

Please note a refund for parking arrears deducted during a university leave will not be processed unless a written request to stop pay roll deductions was submitted at the start of the leave to the Parking Office.

Parking fees remain in place and payroll deductions cannot be discontinued for vacations or leaves of less than four weeks.

SUSTAINABLE COMMUTING

Put your monthly parking permit on hold and try sustainable commuting!

Are you interested in walking, cycling, taking transit or carpooling, but not sure if you are ready to make the leap and give up your parking space?

Parking Services will put your monthly permit on hold for one month or for up to 12 months without risk of loosing your parking space. You must indicate the reason for putting permit on hold at the time of starting and alternate mode of transportation.

EVENING PERMIT

Evening parking transponders are available for those needing evening access only. Transponders are valid from 4:00 PM until 6:30 AM the following day, Monday to Friday and all day on weekends and holidays in lots BCD, K, H and I.

RENEWALS

For faculty and staff who do not pay for their parking via payroll deduction, you must renew before your current permit expires in order to maintain status in your current lot.
